With the first month of Autumn almost down, I thought I'd look back at the Summer that was.
It was a mixed bag of lollies weather wise, but all round a pretty good one.
A road trip down south to hang out with one of my good friends was squeezed in, delicious food was eaten, and a stint at trying to become a yoga person. So here's a few snaps, and words, of the better parts of it :)
Reason for being a highlight? Just look at it! It really is art on a plate. One of the fancier dishes I've had over summer, and this would be at the top of the list as the prettiest! Almost didn't want to eat it, still did though ;) And the staff were very accommodating in regards being gluten and lactose intolerant.
Discovering this place was the best thing ever. For someone who has limited choices when it comes to ice cream, this new joint is a saviour! As well as for the vegans out there!
My favourite, the cappuccino. I loved that flavour prior to lactose hating me, so to be able to have it again is heaven. Hazelnut choc mint, and the salted caramel are also to die for.
The goal is to get through all the flavours ;P
I've always admired people who are dedicated to their yoga practice. I do a quick sun salutation in the morning when I get the chance, but that's the extent of my yogi-ness. Last year I stumbled upon Vital Beat Yoga, a yoga joint putting the flows to the beats, and beats to the flows. Rather than your usual sounds of nature music that many play, it's all about the hip hop, rnb, and so forth here. They even do dedicated Beyonce classes (winning). With the new year (new me, new goals etc etc) I decided to try them out using their awesome 21 day pass for newbies (seriously good value) and went in guns blazing. I took as many as I could cope with and got my yoga on. It was a great experience, from really accepting and knowing my body needs to stretch more, needing to work on shutting my mind down, the beats they played, and to just how cool of a place it is (so friendly!).
I don't regret it one bit, but I did learn that sadly, I am not a yoga person. The odd occasional class maybe, my morning sun salutation in my room yes, but going numerous times a week, and practising it frequently, sadly isn't my jam. I wish it were, but I now accept that I am not one of those people. My version of yoga, as it turns out, is actually stand up paddle boarding.
One Day Concert, Fremantle.
Chilling out listening to John Butler with two of my good mates, whilst admiring and watching all that came down. It was an awesome turn out, and kudos to the Freo council for not being afraid to change what the norm has become.
Bridesmaid
One of the best adventures of the Summer has been bridesmaid to one of my best friends. At the end of Feb, we celebrated her tying the knot with a high tea with her family and close friends. It was a great success, awesome time had by all. This is a shot of the lemon curd sponge cake with coconut meringue icing that I made for her. Plus her little cake topper that I spent hours making. And by hours I mean over a day haha but I think it turned out perfect!
Now it's Autumn, I'm excited for this season's adventures. March's adventures have already been awesome, with my best friends hens this past weekend (cocktail making class for the win!). Birthday in exactly a week, with a celebratory Sunday sesh coming up this weekend, followed by more celebrations. Weddings, seeing that's my job, but also on the flip side of that I can't wait to stand next to my best friend in a couple of weeks and watch her say I do to forever with her man. As well as many more other little adventures!
